Joe Babcock continued his dominance winning the Men’s Club Championship at Oswego CC for the ninth time. The championship took place Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15. The Tournament format was medal play with both Scratch and Handicap winners.
After round 1, Babcock fired an opening round 1 over par 72, to lead the field by three shots. Jeff Hoefer followed closely with a 4 over par 75 and Alec Kunzwiler, a Roberts Wesyleyan University golfer, who garnered a 4 over 76.
Day two dawned with stifling heat and Babcock went out with a 2 over par 37 on the par 35 front nine. Kunzwiler shot a 2 under par 33 to come within 1 stroke after 9 holes. Babcock followed up with a 1 over par 37 on the backside to hold off Kunzwiler who shot a 3 over 39 as Babcock took his ninth championship by 3 strokes. John Romeo took the Handicap Division with a 68-68-136 net score.
